Case Study - What to Write on Form

I am now deciding what to write on the form so that I can save it in Word then just copy and paste the text when it comes to inputting the information into the form. In order to write a full and accurate description I have been looking at other seller's descriptions to see what they write.

I find that many of the seller's do not even write in proper sentences and do not give enough information. So I do not want my item description to be like that because this discourages buyers to buy from you. I begin with stating why i am selling the phone which is due to an upgrade. I then state what condition the phone is in truthfully, what accessories it comes with and whether it is unlocked or not which it is.

Another thing that I have included which i feel is essential is that I will only accept UK bidders and will only post out item within the UK. This is a good idea because it scares away scammers in other countries that may try and bid for the phone and get you to post it outside the UK.

I also highlighted that I will only accept payment through PayPal because it is quick and easy to get the payment and if you were to accept cheques then you would need to wait awhile for the cheque to clear.

I have had this mobile from new for 10 months and I am only selling this Samsung D600 due to an upgrade. The mobile is in good condition with only a few light scratches and marks on it that you would expect from a used phone but nothing noticeable. It comes with its original box and all the accessories it was purchased with. The only thing that has been used is the charger all of the other accessories have never been opened. The mobile is also unlocked therefore can be used on any network.

I will only accept bids from UK registered bidders and will only post within the UK. I will only accept payment through PayPal and expect payment to be received within 48 hours after the auction has closed.

Although this form was extremely easy to fill out I did end up encountering a few problems which I would like to highlight. I wanted to put a reserve price on the mobile so that I got the amount I was looking for, however what I did not know was that to set a reserve price you have to type in that amount as you starting bid?

I was under the impression that you could set a starting bid at 99p for example but at the same time set a reserve price for £50. This is not true so when you are typing in your starting bid type in your preferred reserve price. This is extremely important to remember when you are selling an item of high value.

Another thing that I noticed was that my postcode and town automatically appeared under the item location section which I was not pleased about because I did not want my postcode printed on the an ebay page! For some people this may not be very important but I thought it was so make sure that you change the details to only have your town printed.

One other thing that I believe may be useful is to know a little bit of HTML coding. I already know HTML coding and I felt it was particularly useful when it came to presenting my pictures on my listing. I inserted a table and presented my pictures in it. I did this by using links to one of my websites so this ensured that I did not have to pay ebay for placing more pictures in my listing. Thus, keeping my output costs low and allowing potential buyers to view as many pictures as possible of my item.

After filling out the selling form I then had to wait a couple of hours for my item to be displayed for auction on ebay. As soon as it was listed I received a couple of emails from potential buyers which were quite interesting. I will talk about these emails and what happened each day of the auction.
