Case Study - Day and Duration
So Ive decided on the item I am going to sell the next thing I start to think about is what day shall I List the item on ebay and how long for. Many researchers have differing views on this subject which I find a bit confusing. Some researchers believe that most buyers are looking to buy at the weekend especially on Sundays so it is vital that you should end your auction on a Sunday night so that a lot of people make last minute bids on your item.
On the other hand however, some researchers say that you should not make Sunday the last day of your auction because there are so many auctions ending at the same time because everyone has the same idea. A couple of other experts believe that you should end your auction on a Monday lunch time because buyers tend to check up on their items at lunch time at their work.
From all these differing views it could be said that there is not a definite right and wrong time to list your item but one thing almost all the experts agree on is that you have to make sure you allow an item to be on auction throughout a weekend. This seems sensible since all regular ebay buyers will look at least once throughout the weekend at items of interest.
Another thing that you must think about is how long you keep the auction going for and at what time in the day you start it at. Again there are differing views about this subject so it can be a tad confusing. However, I feel that you should try and give your item as much exposure as possible so I would suggest opting for the full 10 days.
Regarding what time to start the auction at I would tend to go for after lunch time that way you are catching people on their lunch break and also giving people who lie in bed in the mornings plenty of time to arise. Thus, after long deliberation I have decided to list the mobile phone on a Friday at 2pm for 10 days so it will finish on a Monday at 2pm.
