day 2
Case Study – Day 2
On day 2 of the auction I received another email which was extremely similar to the first one. It said:
“hello would u be interested in selling your phone for 50 cash(with delivery) straight into ur paypal account if so pl email me asap thanks ps this is within ebay rules il show you how and we can still leave each other feedback also saves the hassle of non paying bidders pss if you have any other newish phones for sale pl let me no many thanks.....”
When I received this similar email it occurred to me that there are a lot of people on ebay that will try to scam you so you have to be aware of this and know how to handle the situation. I simple replied with the same email that I sent previously.
I also received my first bid which I was extremely excited about because it was so early on in the auction. Even though the ebayer only placed a bid of £1.99 it still seemed fantastic!
Although, I was happy to receive a bid I was still a tad wary because of the emails I had received previously so I decided to check who was making the bid. This is a very easy thing to do and something that you should all do all the time when selling something on ebay!
I clicked on the bidders name and the number beside the name to find out what their feedback score was and what they had bought in the last couple of months. I was pleased to find that the person had 100% feedback from other ebayers and had also bought a variety of different items. The items that were purchased seemed to be a variety of children's items which for some reason made me feel at ease and trust that this was a genuine bidder!
This may not seem like an important thing to do but it is! Mainly because you have the option to cancel bids from bidders that may not have very good feedback, therefore might not be very good to sell something to. So make sure that you keep checking who is bidding for your product because you do not want to re-list your item due to bidders not paying up!
